CHEERLEADERS (L. to R.): Tiffany Larson, Mallory Roelke, Amanda Croatt, Nikki Webster, Croatt and Kelsey Watkins by the poster they made and displayed at the recent Melrose Tournament. Hancock Owls swoop into town; defeat Trojan teams Hancock high school basketball was a power to be reckoned with this past week for both the OHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams. The Boys team met up against Hancock at home on Thursday evening, and were defeated 67-54. There was nothing flashy about the Hancock Ow, l's victory, just plain solid basketball. Trojan shooting was not at its best as the Hancock boys kept the pressure up throughout the game. Trojans shooting percentage for the first quar- ter was 55 percent, but they ended the game with a 39 percent overall shoot- ing statistic, as Hancock forced the Trojans to take more and more outside shots., The Trojans also gave up a few too many points at the free throw line, shooting only 50 percent while Hancock made 71 percent of their shots from the free-throw line. The Trojan Ladies had an equally difficult time with the Hancock Owls. But if the Hancock boys play their game in a workmanlike fashion, the girls team has all the flash and flair. Led by senior guard, Alexis Gramm, the Lady Owls played with confidence and panache, dominating the Trojan Ladies from the get-go. Alexis Gramm achieved her 1,000 point career against the Trojans in the first half of the game. She continued to be a one-woman powerhouse throughout the game; at the score- board, defensively, and was expert at distributing the ball to her teammates, making everybody on the team look good. It was a difficult game for the Lady Trojans, but special mention goes to Senior Sarah LaVoi who showed real grit in her play throughout the game, despite the Owl onslaught, The Trojan boys again played on Saturday afternoon against Dawson Boyd, and were still unable to regroup until the 4th quarter at which point they were behind by 15. The game ended with a Dawson Boyd victory 70-57. Dan Larson scored 13 for the game. Matt Grabow and Ben Zahrbock with 8 each, Riley Sammon was four for four from the line, and scored 7 for the game. Corey Stattleman contributed 6, Derek Guse, 5, Ryan Cloos. 4, Blayn Ronglien, 3. Tony Weber, 2 and Tim Thompson 1.
