Bellingham/Louisburg By Clarissa Sorenson, Phone 568-2204 Robert Ronglien was present at the Community Day Drawing Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 6th when his name was called for $40. On Wednesday, Jan. 13th the drawing will be for $20. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Borgerson and family returned home to Franklin, LA on Tuesday, Dec. 29th after spending ten days at the home of his parents, Alfred and Barbara Borgerson and visiting friends and relatives. January 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Wayne Hanson and boys of Pollock, SD spent Friday to Sunday with Betty Hanson. Harold Hanson and Martha Pyttlie of Duluth came Friday and spent to Sunday with them. They observed their Christmas. An additional Saturday night supper guest was Norrna Larson. The WELCA of St. Pauls Lutheran Church met Thursday afternoon, Jan. 7th with members Sandra Hanson, Carol Mangel, Diane Dybevik, Marlys Kunde, Christi Larson and Clarissa Sorenson attending. The business meeting was conducted by President Sandra Hanson. The Bible Study followed: "Secure in the Promise: A Study of Revelation" with group participation. Diane was hostess. Mrs. Mannie Karels spent from December 27th to January 3rd in Bloomington visiting the Ronald, Steve and Ryan Larsons, Jim Ohms and Glenn Morks. UMRV board meet The Upper Minnesota River Community-Based Planning Joint Powers Board meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 26th at the Appleton Civic Center. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Correction In the editorial from Ortonville Mayor Dave Ellingson which appeared in last week's issue of The Independent, the price of $31,000, which the city paid to put up a cold storage shed near the former Hilltop Sales building was inadvertanfly switched to $51,000. OAHS auxiliary met Jan. 12th By Vi Mehlhop, Sec. Ten members were present when OAHS Auxiliary met at Northridge Jan. 12, 1999. Doris Scheff, president called the meeting to order with the Auxiliary Prayer. The treasurer reported a balance of $7091.95 of which $750 was set aside for the two Scholarships awarded each year. Many of the designated funds have not been paid yet. Total sales from the gift shop the past year were $179.75 as reported by Vi Mehlhop. She and Ruth Hoernemann did an Inventory of the gift shop after the meeting. This project was started in 1995, by the Auxiliary. The president read a letter from RSVP informing the group and asking for volunteers or Partners for the After School Homework/ Activities program for Grades K-6th. Thank you notes were read from the various Department heads for the designated Gifts. Boy born Dec. 16 to Marietta couple Sarah and Todd Patzer of rural Marietta, announce the birth of their son Clayton James. He was born Dec. 16 at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD. He weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 inches long. Clayton is welcomed home by his grandmothers Anna May Korpal of Big Stone City, SD and Mary Jo Patzer of rural Marietta. The unit made a motion to buy three bunches of daffodils from the Big Stone Cancer Unit during Daffodils days as table favors at Northridge. Coffee was served by Elayne Fahlgren.
