In February, Audrey Blum, 4-H Volunteer, presented a project training on "Preparations for Making a Blouse." She talked about the differ- ent tools used for sewing and showed the group how to cut a pattern. For March, the Federation bad two presenters for project trainings; Matyi Sundheim, Bonanza Education Center Coordinator, and Shelley Haggerty, 4- H alumni. Mr. Sundheim's discussion includ- ed the habitat, food and facts of some animals like deer, fox, beaver and opossums that live in this area. Mr. Sundheim also talked about signs of animals to watch for when you are outdoors; hair, bones, scat, tracks, homes, etc. He also brought animal displays from the Bonanza Center. Shelley Haggerty's project training was on Photography. Her discussion included, "What Makes a Good Picture," camera care, and proper lighting for taking a picture. Okeson inducted into Honor Society at Ridgewater Wanda Clarize Okeson has been inducted into the Beta Eta Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Ridgewater College. Okeson, majoring in Computer Aided Drafting and Design, is the daughter of Lance and Emilee Okeson of Ortonville. Established in 1918 by two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. The Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. Students must rank in the top 20% of the class to be invited to membership in Phi Theta Kappa and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in the two-year college. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1100 chapters located in 50 United States, United States territories, Canada, Germany and Japan. In 1929, the American Association of Community Colleges recognized Phi Theta Kappa as the official honor society for two-year colleges. The Society holds membership in the prestigious Association of College Honor Societies as the general scholarship honor society representing two-year colleges.
