It was presented to him by K.J. McDonald of Congressman Mark Kennedy's office. The presentation took place at the Montevideo American Legion. Originally these medals were minted by the Monnaie de Paris and were presented only to those veterans who went back to Normandy for the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landings. The Governor of the Normandy Region has authorized that the medal of the Jubilee of Liberty may now be presented to any Normandy veteran who was part of the invasion between June 6, 1944 and Aug. 31, 1944. MONTEVIDEO-The jury selection process began Tuesday at the Chippewa County Courthouse in Montevideo for the trial of one of four men charged in the death of Jeffrey Donald Barrett. Ross Adam Saue, 20, of Montevideo, will be the first of four defendants to go on trial in District court. He was charged with second degree murder and first degree assault. Saue was present for only part of the assault on Barrett, whose body was later discovered submerged in a Hanley Falls gravel pit on Sept. 7. Also facing charges in Barrett's death are Dustin Allen Vaughn, 19, of Montevideo; James Milton Jemming, 20, of Willmar and Nicholas James Barron, 2 I, of Barrett.
