Mrs. Rose Karels accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Peterson of Cottonwood to Milbank on Sunday, May 2 and spent the day visiting with Sister Genevieve and Sister Jane Karels and residents at St. William's Home. Weekend guests at the Dave Reiffenberger home were Mrs. John Jenson and Jordan of Blaine and Sandy Reiffenberger of Eden Prairie. Mr. and Mrs. Toby Reiffenberger were visitors during the weekend. Mrs. Joan Strei accompanied by daughter Jennifer of Sioux Falls flew to Chicago to attend the wedding of her Godchild, Margaret Strei and Brian Vorpohl at St. Clements Catholic Church on Saturday, April 24, 1999, followed by reception and dance. Michael Schumacher, Mrs. Strei's nephew took them sightseeing and saw Chicago at niLe from the John Hancock Skywalk Observatory, Sears Tower, Navy Pier and dined at Hard Rock Cafe and toured the Tigerman McCurry Architeck where Michael works. On Sunday they were among wedding guests at Days Inn for brunch and gift opening. They returned to Sioux Falls on Monday and Mrs. Strei returned to her home on Tuesday, April 27. The Liturgy at St. Joseph's Church in Rosen on Tuesday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. was celebrated by Bishop Raymond Lucker and Father Robert Goblirsch co-celebrant. Five youth members of St. Joseph's Parish and 13 members of St. John's Parish of Ortonville received the Sacrament of Confirmation during the Liturgy. Bishop Lucker presented Bishop's Medal of award to Almira Karels and Myra Schmieg of St. Joseph's Parish, Marlys Pillatzke of St. James Parish, Isabel Kraemer, Marie Gagnon, Julie Moorhead and Audrey and Ray Wellendorf of St. John's Parish. A reception was held at St. Joseph's School after the Liturgy. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kirchberg were Friday, May 7 supper and overnight guests at the Tom Kirchberg home in New Ulm and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Randy Kirchberg and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Goblirsch. On Saturday, May 8, Tom Kirchbergs treated them to a Polka Brunch at Randall's for Mike's birthday and Mother's Day. Enroute home they visited Cora Kirchberg at Madison Lutheran Home and attended the Mother's Day open house Saturday afternoon and also visited with Mrs. Richard Shockar of San Ciemente, CA.
