Four winners of fishing contest Four winners in three categories of "IT;e Ortonville Indepet2dent fishing contest weighed in at Bud's Bait last week. Matt Nelson and Dave Ohrtman, both of Ortonville, tied in the Walleye category of the contest. Both men weighed in a seven pound, eight ounce walleye. The Northern category was won by Anna Reese of Coon Rapids. Reese weighed in a four pound, four ounce Northern. Ed Kuefler of Big Stone City, SD, weighed in a two pound, 12 ounce Bullhead to win the scrip money in that category. No perch were weighed in for the contest. q'he final drawing pots for scrip money is as follows, $100 in the Walleye category, $100 in the Northern category, $115 in the Bullhead category and $145 in the Perch category. Fish can be weighed in at Bud's Bait in Ortonville and at Lakeshore RV and Fruit Farm in Ortonville. I,akeshore RV and Fruit Farm is open until 10 p.m., every day of the week, and Bud's Bait is usually ()pen from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. until about 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Everyone is eligible to participate in the contest. Dale Hopkins open house for his 75th Children and grandchildren of Dale Hopkins invite you to join them in celebrating his 75th birthday! The event will be held Saturday, June 28, 2003 at the Big Stone Legion in Big Stone City, SD. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight. Dinner RSVP"S to Dale at 320- 839-2492 or Bev at 763-576-3%0 by June 13th. No gifts please. Bridal Shower June 14th for Goergen-Fredrick Joshua Goergen of Little Canada and Melissa Fredrick of White Bear Lake announce their engagement. The groom-to-be is the sone of Tom and Deb Goergen of Ortonville. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Steve and Jeanne Fredrick of White Bear Lake. Melissa is a University of Minnesota student employed at North End Health Center as a nutrition educator. Joshua is a graduate of St, Cloud State University and is employed as a sales consultant at JJ. Vandernson. A July 12, 2003 wedding is planned in White Bear Lake. An open house bridal shower will be held Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. Ortonville news By Gladys A. Brehmer On Monday and Tuesday David Olson and friend Laura Benson of Minneapolis visited his uncle Norman Shelsta. Wednesday through Friday, niece Kathy and Rob Livingston and family of Columbia, SC visited Norman Shelsta. Emil and Vi Van Erem of Odessa and Virginia Karels, Roy and Lois Bergeson and Wilfred and Jen Adelman of Ortonville arrived home Wednesday evening, May 21 after spending six days on a mystery tour with "Rustads Tours", they traveled all the way to Kentucky and back to Stillwater to ride the "Zepher Train" for three hours. They all had a wonderful time. They saw lots of land in Illinois and Indiana, under water and fields were not planted as yet for this season. Don Adelman of Clinton was a Memorial weekend guest at the Wilfred Adelman's. All attended the birthday on Monday of Lindsey and Alisson Plathe of Bellingham. Marge Knudson, Kayla and Katheryn of Montevideo spent Sunday over night and Monday at Wilfred Adelman's along with Dilon and Shelly and Amber, children of Dwane and Judi Adelman of Lakeville. Jerry and Alma Jorgenson attended the celebration of Charles and Arlen Woolry 50th wedding anniversary at Zoar Lutheran Church near Marietta, Sunday afternoon, May 25th. Jerry and Alma Jorgenson were visitors at the Vernon and Bert Longhenry home Sunday the 25th for the late afternoon and evening. The "Day of Love Ladies" of the First English Lutheran Church visited Inez Fraasch at the Madison Lutheran Home on May 20th. Coffee and cookies were enjoyed in the afternoon. David and Inez Troen from Glenwood and Edna Paasche of Ortonville spent Wednesday afternoon at Rena Bagne and enjoyed an afternoon lunch with her. Kathy Gilsdorf just came home from being with Keith and Peg Gilsdorf at their home. They just had a set of twin girls and they joined their brother Joseph. Carlene Wittnebel came Wednesday evening with a delicious supper and brought with her, her daughter Beth Hunt and her two children, Emma and Wyatt. They visited at the Mr. and Mrs. Clifford and Alton Hanson home. They took Lizzie along to the Piano recital at First English Lutheran Church to hear, Nickolas Steuart, who participated as a pianist among others that evening.
