Father Ken Lul: was celebrant. Music win, presented by Nancy Johnson, organist, and the St. Lawrence Funeral Choir. Mr. Giessinger died on Sunday, July. 25, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank. Visitation was held at the church on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a scripture service and rosary. Honorary pallbearers were the staff and residents of St. William's Care Center. Active pallbearers were Don Wiseman, Greg Giessinger, Alan Schliesman, Sam Folk, Edward Schmidt, and Rod Prasnicki. Burial was at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Walter was born on Sept. 27. 1916, on the family homestead in Lockwood Township, Corona, SD. He was the son of Ignatz and Theresa (Lemmer) Giessinger. He attended grade school at Geneseo Township #3. Roberts County, SD. Gary A. Voeltz Graveside services for Gary Allen Voeltz. age 77. of Watertown, SD. were held on Friday, July 30. 2010, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Rev. Christina Matson officiated. Gary passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010, at his residence. Military graveside honors were provided by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion of Watertown and the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard. Gary was born on June 3. 1933, in Oliver County, ND, to Glen and Alice (Bergstad) Voeltz. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.. He was united in marriage with Marie Van Hout. daughter of Peter and Charlotte Van Hout. in Big Stone City, SD, on Sept. 5.1940. After their marriage, the couple lived in Milbank where he worked at Valley Queen Cheese Factory for two years before moving to Lockwood Township where they farmed. In 1944 they moved to a farm in Wilmot Lake Township, Roberts County. After two years they bought a farm in Lockw0od Township. where they lived until 1976 when they retired from farming, bought a home. and moved to Milbank. They were custodians for St. Lawrence Church and School. Walter continued to be a custodian after Marie's death in 1982. During this time he donated his time remodeling the church hall. He also spent many years building houses in the area with Lenny Fitzner and Stretch Johnson. Walter was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. He treasured the time spent With his family, especially the annual event given in his, honor, when many relatives and friends came to Milbank for his birthday party and Bunko game. He was always a farmer at heart. After 'his retirement, his greatest joy was gardening and sharing his produce with many. He enjoyed playing 'cards with family and friends and was a league bowler for many years. Walter is survived by his seven children: David and wife Rose, Monmouth. OR; Thomas and wife Irene. Winner, SD; Marilyn Roback and husband Randy, New Hope; Kathleen Jayne and husband Richard, Angels Camp, CA; Kenneth and wife Carolyn, Milbank; Connie Tomala and husband Jody, Nowthen; and Glenn and wife Leanne, Watertown SD: numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; two brothers. Luke and wife Deve, Clear Lake, SD, and Ignatius (Jack), Denver, CO; one sister, Elizabeth LeMaster, Raymond, MI: six sisters-in-law: Georgette Giessinger and Helen Giessinger, both of Milbank: .Mavis Giessinger, St. Cloud; Vi Hansen, Ortonville; Gladys Van Stralen, Milbank; Dorothy Prasnicki and husband Hank, Big Stone City, SD; and Diane Kvidera and husband Vince, Ortonville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife Marie; his infant daughter, Melissa; three brothers; five sisters: and one daughter-in-law. The Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home was 111 charge of the arrangements. He lived in Twin Brooks. SD. Minneapolis, and Lead. SD. Gary worked at the Homestake Mine in Lead until moving to Watertown in 1980, where he owned and operated a trucking business for 15 years. One pastime that Gary enjoyed most in life was traveling. Gary is survived by one son, Mark Voeltz. and his fianc6. Rebecca Hensley, both of Duluth: two stepsons: Rick Angerhofer of Gillette. WY, and Randy Angerhofer of Sturgis, SD; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren: 10 great grandchildren: two brothers: Millard Voeltz of LaBolt, SD; and Jim Voeltz of Big Stone City, SD; and two sisters: Robin (Bill) Wulf of Big Stone City, SD. and Virginia Dawson of Ortonville. He was preceded in death by one son. Judd Allen Voeltz: one great grandchild; his parents; one brother; and one sister. Arrangements were handled by the Crawford Funeral Chapel of Watertown, SD. Nancy Hansen Memorial Services for Nancy Hansen were held on Monday, Aug. 2. 2010 at Holden Lutheran Church in rural Beardsley. Minister Bey McNeill officiated. Nancy Phyllis Meyers was born on Sept 1. 1940 to parents Herbert and Myrtle (Montag) Meyers in Milbank, SD Nancy was raised and attended school in Milbank, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran' Church in Milbank, In 1958, Nancy was united in marriage to Wayne Peterson, to which four children were born: Douglas. Valerie, Curtis and Brent, followed by 10 grandchildren. Myrtle J. Groom Funeral services for Myrtle J. Groom. age 78, of Watertown. SD. were held on Monday, Aug. 2. 2010: at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown Rev. Andrew Schaller officiated. Music was provided by Melanie Dummann as pianist with congregational singing. Myrtle passed away on Thursday, July 29. 2010, at the hospital in Watertown. She was the widow of Burnell, Bernie Groom. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown. Honorary pallbearers were Myrtle's grandchildren: Rusty, Samantha, Kasey, Dusty, Emily; Dr. Rebecca Pengilly; Machelle Dierkson; the medical staff of Sanford Health Clinic and Prairie Lakes Hospital: and Meadow Lake Assisted Living Center staff and friends Active pallbearers were: Kenneth Chase. Jay LeMay, Jeffrey Adkins. Paul Mertz. Russ Athey and Gary Dierkson. Myrtle was born on May 3, 1932. in rural Milbank. SD to Frank and Mildred J. (Hall) Fredricksen. She attended school at Big Stone City, SD and graduated from there in 1952. Following graduation, she movedto Fargo, ND and managed a seamstress shop. On Aug 3. 1963. Myrtle married Burnell "Bernie" Groom at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. The couple moved to Watertown and Myrtle stayed at home raising her children. She also helped her husband with the family business and farming. In 1981. Myrtle-workeffat the 55 Plus Center and then retired in June of 2007. Myrtle was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved in the women's group and other church actxvities. She enjoyed In 1989, Nancy was united in marriage to Harold Hansen From this marriage she had five step-children: Harold, Carla. Pare. Kenny and'Lee: as well as l0 step-grandchildren. Nancy worked in the Clinton Nursing Home for five years and the Browns Valley Nursing Home for 18 years. Nancy also worked at Woopee's Bar. Foster Lodge and the Beardsley Liquor Store. She attended two years of nursing school and worked as an LPN at Coteau de Prairies Hospital in Sisseton SD for 18 years. Nancy enjoyed many things; a few of her hobbies included: gardening: vegetables and flowers, crocheting and quilting, numerous crafts with her daughter Val. playing cards, shopping, especially at thrift stores, traveling, fishing and cooking. Nancy died on Thursday, July 29. 2010 at the Browns Valley Health Center in Browns Valley, She had going to dances at Fortin's Barn, playing cards and games at the 55 Plus Center, volunteering at various places in Watertown. cooking, vegetable and flower gardening, and watching Twin's baseball. She truly adored her grandchildren and loved playing and spending time with them. Myrtle also enjoyed traveling with her daughters. Myrtle is survived by her children: Mildred Groom, of Houston. TX, Alan (Tammy) Groom. of Lake City, SD. and Teresa (Todd) Kaasa. of Watertown. SD: and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband. Bernie; one son. Joseph: her parents; one brother. Duane. and one sister, Lorraine Chase. lived to reach the age of 69 years. Nancy is survived by her husband, Harold: children: Douglas (Sis) Peterson of Beardsley, Valerie (Steve) Henrichs of Ortonville, Curtis (Lisa) Peterson of Beardsley, and Brant (Kathy) Peterson of.Ortonville: 10 Grandchildren; four step-children: Harold (Nam) Hansen, Carla (Phillip)i]; Schafe, Kenneth Hanen and 6 (Christa) Hansen; 10 Step- Grandchildren: Two great -' grandchildren: sisters: Judy Malone of Monroe, NE and Sandra (Tony) Hill of Fort Collins.
