School in From Appleton and from 1989 to 1999 was co-owner of the Pioneer Meat Market in Ortonville. Among her many interests were flower gardening, art, fishing, bird watching, and other outdoor activities. Karin enjoyed writing poetry, keeping photograph albums, her bird feeders, fish pond, and lots of animals. She loved kids and had a special concern for youth and the local teen center. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs Bender passed away at her home on Monday, June 21, 1999, reaching the age of 47 years, 3 months and 13 days. She will be remembered for being loving, caring and protective. She was the most kind hearted person you could ever meet. Survivors include her husband Dale of Big Stone City; two daughters, Jennifer Bender of St. Paul and Jodi Bender of Big Stone City; one son, Jamie (Heidi) Bender of Fargo, ND; one brother, Michael (Cherie) Seeman of Indianapolis, IN; step-father, Arthur Meisei of Minneapolis, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville was in charge of the arrangements. He was united in marriage Aug. 30, 1"952 to Joan Wagner at St. Paul. To this union two children were born. After marriage Robert and Joan lived in Bellingham for five years while farming with his father Elmer. They purchased a farm west of Bellingham in which they farmed for 41 years. On Oct. 28, 1998 Robert and Joan moved to Ortonville. Due to a bout with cancer, death came to Robert, June 21, 1999; at the Ortonville Hospital. He had reached the age of 70 years, eight months and two days. In life Robert served on the Agassiz Township Board for 30 years, ihd received the 1998 Conservation Farmer Award for Lac qui Parle County. He enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, visiting with his friends and giving all of them a bad time, fishing and running the back-hoe for his son Mark. Robert is survived by his wife Joan of Ortonville, son Mark and wife Arloa of Big Stone City, SD, daughter Monica Ring of Edina, four grandchildren; Lacy, Blayn, Danielle and Bodie also one great-grandson August, one sister Carol and husband Vernon Olson of Bellingham. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Jessica Nybakke. II Home of death of 65 a resident of Saturday, Wis. held on at 10:30 am at Church of officiate with Cemetary in afternoon home in be a prayer service at 7 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation will continue before the service on Wednesday at the church. Ortonville, who died June 23rd at i : Ortonville. Funeral i services were held Monday, June 28th at the ' i:  " Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD. Rev. Duane Lookingbili officiated and burial will be in the Highland Memorial Garden at Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, June 29th at 10:00 am. Honorary bearers were grandsons: Scott Anderson, Michael Anderson, T.R. Copper, Eric Longhenry, Ryan Longhenry, and Randy Longhenry. Music was presented by Linda Stengel, organist, Paula Tobin, vocalist and a flute duet by Jenna Longhenry and Nicole Webster. Ernest Charles Copper was born March 3, 1915, at Des Moines, Iowa; the son of Truman Ray and Elsie (Bailey) Copper. He attended East High School at Des Moines and Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He was united in marriage on June 17, 1941 at Des Moines, IA with Naomi Anne Johnson. Ernest served in the United States Navy from April 24, 1944 to Dec.13, 1945. The couple moved to Montevideo in 1954. Mrs. Copper died June 5, 1963. Ernest moved to Ortonville in 1964 and has since resided there. He was united in marriage on Sept. 18,1964 with Eunice Alice Longhenry. Ernest had worked for the Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years. Then he and his wife owned and operated the Longhenry Oil Company in Ortonville until his retirement. Eunice Longhenry Copper died May 26, 1992. Ernest was an associate member of the Congregational United Church of Christ of Ortonville, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the VFW and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed golf and football. Ernest Copper is survived by one son: Thomas R. and wife Donna Copper of Des Moines, IA. Twin Daughters: Anne M. Paz of Brookings, SD and Jeanne E. and husband Darwin Longieliere of Brookings, SD. Annie Hedge Funeral services for Annie Laura Hedge, 96, of Ortonville, will be held today, Tuesday, Ju.e 29, at 10 a.m. in the United Methodist Church at Ortonville. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Kasten. Organist will be Janet Hippie, with soloists Rev. Larry Kasten and Kate Olson. Pallbearers will be Annie's grandsons. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Ortonville. Annie Laura Hedge was born April 28, 1903 to John and Catherine (Wunderlich) Griffith in Lyon Co. On July 15, 1923 she was united in marriage to Glenn Hedge at Pipestone. Annie was a homemaker and took great pleasure in helping anyone and everyone. Her interests included gardening, remodeling, and politics. She loved her dog more than her kids. Mrs. Hedge passed away Friday, June 25, at the Northridge Residence, Ortonville, reaching the age of 96 years, one month and 27 days. Survivors include three daughters, Gwendolyn "Babe" Hegge of Big Stone City, Ducky Crookston of Littleton, CO and June J. Ziegler of Longmont, CO; two sons, Gilmer "Bud" (Ardell) of Big Stone City and Gayle (Colleen) of Ortonville; one sister, Ardis (Earl) Roweil of Tempe, AZ; sisters-in-law, Mabel Griffith of Tracy and Bertie Griffith of Manson, IA; brother-in-law, Don Bair of Cheyenne, WY; 11 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Father Jack Nordick will officiate. Music will be provided by organist Janet Kellen and soloist Phyllis Doschadis. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeanette's grandchildren and friends. Active pallbearers will be Harvey Kunkel, Leon Doschadis, Robert Hills, W.B. Jorgens, Aiois Deutsch, Jr., and Larry Deutsch. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Beardsley. Jeanette Marie Husmann was born Jan. 11, 1940 to Ernest and Ruth (Church) Peickert at Graceville. She was baptized July 28, 1961 in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Beardsley, where she was also confirmed on June 14, 1962. " Jeanette was a 1958 graduate of Wheaton High School, Wheaton. On Feb. 4, 1961 she was united in marriage to John Husmann in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Beardsley. Jeanette helped her husband farm from 1961 to 1965. She was owner and manager of Husmann Hardware and Electric from 1968 until 1982, when John became a Contract Electrical Inspector and Jeanette served as his secretary. Mrs. Husmann passed away on Saturday, June 26, 1999 at Savage, having reached the age of 59 years, five months and 16 days. She will be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Among the things Jeanette loved were camping with her family and coloring, reading books, playing games and blowing bubbles with her grandchildren. Other interests included league bowling, fishing, flowering and gardening. She was an avid bingo player, card player, and a very loyal sports fan. Jeanette liked going beanie baby hunting for her children and grandchildren. She was loved very much and will be sadly missed by her family. Survivors include her husband John of Beardsley; two daughters, Theresia (Elliott) Barbosa of Beardsley and Suzette (Jeff) Heideman of Savage; two sons, John (Shawn) Husmann of Watertown, SD and Gerhard (Kristi) Husmann of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Lance, Andrew, Kalie, Cody, Brooke, Michael and Tiffany; five brothers, LaVerne (Donna) Peickert of Wheaton, LeRoy Peickert of Roseville, Lowell Peickert of Apple Valley, Willard Peickert and Gerald Peickert both of Anoka. Other interests included league bowling, fishing, flowering and gardening. She was an avid bingo player, card player, and a very loyal sports fan. Jeanette liked going beanie baby hunting for her children and grandchildren. She was loved very much and will be sadly missed by her family.
