Ellingson will be doing a |of the calendars, which are available at either Pamida or the Chamber Office for a minimum $1 on Dec. 12 from 1-4 p.m. at Pamida. Proceeds from calendar sales benefit the local United Way and other local needy organizations, and those who purchase a calendar will also have their names into a drawing for a $60 pair of binoculars to be given away at 4 p.m. Dec. 12. The Salvation Army will have our annual "Angel Tree" Project for the benef of needy families in our com- munity to help brighten their Christmas. The trees will be placed at seven different locations. Pamida, Minnwest Bank, CenBank, Matador Supper Club and Holiday Store in Ortonville. Marquette Bank in Big Stone City and the Clinton State Bank in Clinton. On the tree will be a tag stating boy or girl, age, size and a description of what they would like for Christmas. Please remove tag from the tree and purchase a gift for a needy chil'd. Return the gift along with the tag to the location where you picked up the tag by Dec. 11. Please do not wrap the gift, but you may include wrapping paper, if you County board (Continued from page I) of the board granting additional compensation to an elected official, stating, "She should have asked for this when she first assumed the additional duties. Legally, I recommend the board rescind the motion." Wade Athey of rural Clinton asked Board Chairman Dave Torgerson whether there had been anything stated in Pattison's contract about the additional compensation. Torgerson responded by saying, "No, we were just responding towhat Judy had asked us to do. There had been a precedent set by the sheriff awhile back, but we didn't have to go the same way." Throndrud, who made the motion to rescind the board's action, stated, "This whole thing is a firestorm. She didn't mean for that to happen so (Pattison) had asked us to rescind the motion. I do this with remource, since she had ben named auditor of the year a couple years ago. She is at least deserving of some verbal credit. That may be of more value than the money." Following Throndrud's comments, the board voted unanimously to rescind the previous motion. wish. Lets all help some needy family have a Merry Christmas.
