PLACE WINNER in Ortonvile's Holiday Lighting contest sponsored by the Big Stone Lake Area's of Commerce's Retail Committee was the home of Gerald and Sue McMahon of Big Stone City, )ND PLACE WINNERS in the BSLA Chamber's holiday lighting contest were Dan and Joyce Nelson Ortonville news Gail Maxwell, Phone 839-2207 Alma and Jerry Jorgenson attended the instaJJation of Rev. James ttesse of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Bellingham and Trinity Lutheran Church of Town Walter. A wonderful luncheon was served on Dec. 15th. Jerry and Alma Jorgenson and Vernon and Bert Longhenry were Sunday, Dec. 15th evening visitors at the Carol and Jane Asche's home and had a belated birthday party for Jane. Gen Strube, Evie Swigerd, Verna Stoehr, Alma Jorgenson, Ethel Anderson, and Glenora Tietjen were guests of Virginia Dawson at her home for a Christmas party. Everyone enjoyed the good food and fellowship. Dale and Eileen Williams from Egan and Virginia and Glen Kuechenmeister from Blue Earth were Dec. 13th week-end guests of Clifford and Lizzie Hanson and Alton Hann. They helped Clifford celebrate his 100th birthday on Saturday, Dec. 14th. Carlene Wittnebel was a Monday, Dec. 16th visitor of Clifford and Lizzie Hanson and Alton Hanson. John and Anna Rothi visited Anna's mother Hazel Gibson in Beardsley on Sunday, Dec. 15th. Other visitors were Butch and lone Gibson, Ada Herrmann, and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Herrmann. Kippy and Craig Randleman went to Morris Wednesday, Dec. 18th to meet their daughter Emily. Whileat Morris the family shared an anniversary celebration meal at the Diamond Supper Club. The Randlemans were celebrating their 31st wedding anniversary. Emily had completed her final exams for the fall semester at UMM and returned to Ortonville with her parents that evening to spend a holiday vacation time at home in Ortonville. Monday, Dec. 16th Alice Anderson, Amanda Jensen's sister Ragna Redfield from Appleton, and Amanda Jensen were driven by Amanda's niece Sandy Cooper to Willmar for a funeral. It was the funeral of Amanda's niece's son. Darshell Frevert spent Monday night, Dec. 16th at Amanda Jensen's. Wednesday, Dec. 18th Amanda Jensen's brother Reuben Bakken and his wife Lorraine from Appleton visited Amanda Jensen. Brenda Peterson from Dawson was a visitor on Thursday, Dec. 12th and spent the day with Joe and Dorothy Coubal. On Saturday morning, Dec. 14th Joe and Dorothy Coubat went to Granite Falls and were there until noon. While there they visited at Dorothy's aunt Thea Kraakaas' home with Wanda Kraakaas from St. Petersburg, FL, tielen Christopherson from Clarkfield, and Mr. and Mrs. ttarvey Slettadahl from Minneapolis. In the afternoon Joe and Dorothy went to Montevideo to visit Lou and Donna Coubal at Country Suites Inn where they had the Christmas party for Lou and Donna's children. There were about 30 people there. They played games and had a buffet-style dinner. They exchanged gifts. Syl Pinkert's son Ronnie came to visit Syl on Thursday, Dec. 12th. The week-end of Dec. 13th Bliss Gerjets's granddaughter Tracy Vandeventer, Tracy's daughter, and Gerri Anderson all from Sail Lake City, UT arrived and visited Bliss Gerjets for a few days. They also visited Tracy's grandmother Mrytle Vandeventer at Clinton. Terry Freeman and Katie and Beth, Terry's daughters, stayed at the home of her parents Orlend and Irene Mathison the week-end of Dec. 21st and 22nd. John and Auckrey Tobin from Faribault spent the week-end of Dec. 20th at their lake home in Meadowbr()ke. Betty Saeger and Isabel Tobin attended Christian Women's Club at the Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17th. At Christian Women's Club at Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 17th 5 or 6 ladies showed how to make holiday gift baskets. Mary Ross played the violin and led them in Christmas songs. The inspirational speaker was Helene Kahlstorf. It was very good. High bridge players at t'he Ortonville Senior Center Friday afternoon, Dec. 20th were Mel Ehlert and Luverne Swezey. It was a very enjoyable afternm. Vidella Roschen, Nathan, and Tiffany among several others enjoyed Christmas caroling Thursday evening, Dec, 19th at several places. They enjoyed hot cider and a delicious lunch at Norlan and Dollie Hagerott's, We've Pulled Over... To wish you the happiest holidays ever. Drive safely, and thanks for steering in our direction.
